Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor best known for portraying detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue and for which she was awarded the Emmy Award. Kim Delaney is famous as the character Detective Diane Russell in the ABC series NYPD Blue. Also, she was a part of the drama series All My Children Philly, CSI: Miami, and Army Wives. Delaney was born the only girl of her mother who was a homemaker and senior executive from her union, the United Auto Workers. Delaney lived most of her life in the company of four brothers. Although she was a child with a goal of becoming journalist, it wasn't until the time of her high school days that Delaney began to model. Following her move away from New York City and gaining experience with commercials at New York did she achieve her dream of becoming aspiring court reporters. Her first film role was as a teen innocent as a child in All My Children, a 1981 soap opera. Delaney was in numerous of television shows, films and dramatics since then. Similar to her profession however, her private life has not been easy or prosperous. She has also experienced two divorces that failed and fought with addiction issues. In 2005, she lost custody of her only son.
